When Vijay first released his movie Singam little did he know that he would have to change the name to Villu as the name Singam had already been taken by the director Hari. It led to much confusion and gossip in the Tamil film industry.
Earlier on Vijay planned to use the name Puli but that got taken away as well. Vijay hopes to make a comeback with his next movie Vettaikaran.
Meanwhile this is Suryas hour. Everything he touches turns to gold. His movies dubbed into Telugu earn crores and crores of money for their producers.
Suriya is teaming up with Hari to act as a police officer in his 25th film after Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan.
The plot of Singam is about smuggling activities that are taking place in Rameshwaram. After Khaaka Khaaka this is the second time Surya is playing a cop and like all of Haris films this one is also expected to have the right mix of sentiments and comedy.
For Hari also this will be the second police story after Saamy with Vikram. Earlier on Hari had directed Surya in Aaru (2005) and Vel (2007). Haris last movie was Seval with Bharath.
Singam has Tollywood beauty Anushka Shetty as the leading lady. Anushka debuted in Tamil Cinema with Rendu starring Madhavan. The irony is she is also Vijays co star in Vettaikaran. Other cast members are Prakash Raj and Vivek.
The music is scored by Devi Sri Prasad and camera work is done by Priyan. Editing is done by V.T. Vijayan and art direction is by K. Kathir.
Gnanavelraja is producing the movie under the banner Studio Green and BIG Pictures. Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal and Paruthiveeran were earlier productions of Studio Green.
With Singam Reliance Big Pictures would have made its entry into Tamil cinema.

CANNES – A documentary using small clay figurines to tell the story of how Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh’s family perished under the Khmer Rouge regime won the top prize in the second most important competition at the Cannes film festival on Saturday.

L’Image Manquante (The Missing Picture) was among the 18 films that premiered in the Un Certain Regard category that was set up to encourage emerging and innovative filmmakers and run alongside the main competition at the world’s top film festival.

Panh, 49, a prolific filmmaker whose films concentrate on the brutality in Cambodia when an estimated 1.7 million people were killed during the 1975-79 Khmer Rouge regime, said the prize was important for his country.

For a country that has emerged from its difficulties and years of war, it is important to say we are still alive,” Panh told Reuters after receiving his award at a red carpet ceremony in the French Riviera resort.

The jury led by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, whose film Jagten (The Hunt) won Mads Mikkelsen the best actor award at Cannes last year, described the documentary as one of the most powerful films I have seen in many years”.

The runner-up was Omar by Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, a political thriller involving Palestinians living under Israeli occupation in which a young baker, Omar, is tortured by Israel’s secret police to betray his friends.

Omar, which was shot in the West Bank and Israeli-Arab town of Nazareth last year, received a standing ovation at its premiere as the first film fully funded by the Palestinian cinema industry.

It is the only festival that I think still cares about different films,” said Abu-Assad, known for the 2005 award-winning film Paradise Now, as he received his award.

Another director in Un Certain Regard to get a standing ovation was Iran’s Mohammad Rasoulof who was jailed in 2010 for anti-regime propaganda but came to Cannes this year with Manuscripts Don’t Burn, shot in secret in his home country.

The non-professional actors of La Jaula de Oro (The Golden Cage), a film about three young Guatemalans trying to cross the Mexico-U.S. border from director Diego Quemada-Diez won an award for best cast.

What are the most excellent home cinema systems currently on the marketplace? The problem along with this question was that it’s only still relative to that time of writing this article. Hence we need to discover a better question prior to we answer. What’s the most excellent home theatre system intended for me based upon my requirements? Now it would be lots better and something that we can not just answer but provide you some guidelines in the way to select the home cinema systems that’s most excellent for you, hence here we could go. There are sure criteria you’d need to keep at mind while determining which scheme is most excellent for you and those will consists of the following: * What’s your available budget? * What’s the type and size of room you’ve to work with? * were aesthetics an issue at the room? * The kind of movies you’d like to watch? Hence, let’s look at those criteria one after one to discover the most excellent home cinema systems for you. What’s your available budget? I forever feel this must be one among the first questions you’d ask yourself while looking for the finest home cinema systems for you. It’s completely ok to have the range in mind than an exact outline but try & avoid going out along with no idea since you are then leaving to be prone for buying on impulse as well as making decisions based upon what you see such day than what you’ve already planned. What you’re going to discover is that there were certain cut off point for different kinds of home cinema system based upon the price range as well as in general you’re probably going for being able to categorize it into only about five categories which I recommend below: * Below 1k Euro * 1k – 3k Euro * 3k – 5k * 5k – 10k Euro * 10k + Euro Yes, there were lots of systems more than 10k and that price can literally leave up as higher as you imagine still after 10k you’d really start getting to an exponential curves where a lot extra money only get you a small quantity of improvement. Hence try and keep a single of these 5 price ranges at mind while you go out for looking for the most excellent home cinema system intended for you.

Now available on Satellite TV Pay Per View Cinema, the same day its released on DVD, is the teen comedy 17 Again, starring heartthrob Zac Efron.

In the movie, Efron plays Mike O’Donell, a high school basketball star who seems to have everything a college scholarship, popularity, and a beautiful girlfriend. But all of that changes when his girlfriend Scarlett reveals that shes pregnant. Suddenly all of Mikes aspirations are dashed and we fast forward twenty years later. Mike (now played by Matthew Perry) and Scarlett (Leslie Mann) are separated, and Mike is living with his software genius nerd best friend Ned (Thomas Lennon). We also learn that Mikes relationship with his own teenaged children is nonexistent, and his job is at a standstill. Praying for a change after he is passed up for a promotion, Mike meets a mysterious janitor who transforms him back to his glory days and suddenly Mike is 17 (and played by Zac Efron) again.

Posing as a new student named Mark, Mike infiltrates his childrens school and learns things about them that he never knew. He also visits an unsuspecting Scarlett and rediscovers all the things that initially made him fall in love with her. Of course it should come as little surprise to anyone who watches movies that Mike will eventually learn some things about himself that will make him a better husband, a better father, and appreciate life as he never did before.

I saw this movie initially when it was released to theaters in April and I remember thinking Cute, but I could have waited for DVD. Its chock-full of the stereotypes that weve come to expect in these teen comedies (the jock bully, the trio of cheerleader temptresses, the final showdown at the basketball game with that one chance to make the winning basket), but it still works, mostly due to Efrons charms. Now that he is stepping outside of the Disney mold, Efron is proving himself to be much more than just a pretty face. He shows some surprising dramatic chops here (most notably during the speech he gives to a judge in a courtroom at the end) and I think he has a long career ahead of him as an actor in more serious roles. Leslie Mann is somewhat underused, but she is still good here, and I always appreciate seeing her in comedies (she also appeared in The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and this summer’s Funny People.)

I think Efron fans will be tempted to give this five stars before they even see it, but if other people give it a chance they will see there is a little more than meets the eye in Efrons talent. 17 Again had heart and it wasnt crass, and I think its a movie the whole family can enjoy. Sometimes a little sugary sweetness is actually kind of endearing.

A Guide To Home Cinema Perfection

Peter Simpson writes guides to computing gadgets and new technology. Ask Peter about watching films on an hd projector, hd tv or lcd tv and remember that you can always watch films on your ipod touch too.

While it is ideal to have a spacious room for your home cinema, you can still enjoy the best home cinema from a smaller room in a quaint home. The trick is to use the features of your room to blend with the home cinema; the electronics should fit in comfortably with the rest of the settings.

Here are some suggestions on how to enjoy the best home cinema in a room that does not look like a spacious lounge.

The Dimensions Of The Room

Do use a rectangular room, and don’t use a square room. The room should be longer than it is wider for a home cinema not to completely dominate the room.

And just as you don’t want the room to be a square, you don’t want it to be a cube either, so ceiling height is also something to consider. The height of the room, from floor to ceiling, should not match the length of the room.

Reduce or Eliminate Unpleasant Bouncing Sounds

Do use a rug or carpet, and don’t use a bare floor, even if it is nicely laminated or has beautiful floorboards. This time the reason is not aesthetics, but functionality. Bare floors will bounce the sound, while rugs or carpets will absorb sound comfortably and you will not hear a strange humming sound as you watch a movie.

Similarly, add thick curtains to the windows. Again for the same reason. You don’t want the windows to reverberate when watching your show. Thick curtains that block out the light will add another dimension to your viewing pleasure.

Finally, if you can, change the door. By choosing a fire proof door, you will eliminate audio problems created by a vibrating door.

Be Selective About Your Technological Choices

While a 7.1 system is more impressive than a 5.1, and dynamic mode creates bright and compelling images, these choices in home cinema will have an overpowering effect on the total ambiance of the room. In other words, you are overdoing the electronic stimulation. Just as you want the physical home cinema to blend in with the size of the room, so, too, you want the cinematic effects to be pleasant, not jarring.

Bigger Is Not Always Better

Sound is important to pull you into the movie, but big speakers are not necessary at all. You can get the same sound effects with five small satellite speakers and a subwoofer.

Don’t keep your TV more than 15 degrees from eye height; for example, if you have a flat screen, you should not put it on a mantle piece. Having the screen too high will eventually cause a crick in your neck.

In the not too distant past, watching a film was a proper social activity, with the only possible way of doing so being to actually go to the cinema. However with the introduction of technology that is constantly being developed, it seemed inevitable that this would not remain the same.

Firstly, there were VCRs, yes that’s right, though they are obsolete now there once was a time when these were the height of technology and allowed consumers to rent, buy or even record films and view them in the comfort of their own homes. Then followed DVD players – these gave us better quality and eliminated the hassle of rewinding and fast forwarding and it was good, but it seemed there were still factors missing if you were to truly replicate the -cinema experience’.

The huge screens provided at the cinema were undeniably an essential factor in the experience, and certainly the TVs available when VCRs were around would have paled in comparison. Not only did the TVs have smaller screens but the speakers were also of poor quality and issues with the screen sizes and aspect ratios also proved to be problematic.

Nevertheless, all of this outdated technology, though left behind, has proved to be an essential stepping-stone for what was to follow, the home cinema. Yes, it seems that now the technology is available, more and more people are opting for the home cinema experience, transforming their living rooms into movie theatres. Watching films at home does seem to have its advantages; for instance, it’s often quieter and more convenient than going to actual theatre. So, what do you need to set up your home cinema system?

1)Though it may seems obvious, a good starting point is a large television. When you see a film in a theatre the screen envelops your field of view, allowing you to become completely emerged in the film. A TV with a big screen will help to imitate this. 2)Having a high quality telly is also essential. At the cinema we are always presented with huge high definition images, the detail and clarity allows for a greater sense of realism. Also, if a large screen provides low quality images it will accentuate the poor quality of the picture. 3)Finally, we come to the sound side of the system. Although it may not seem like it is of great importance, in actual fact a good sound system can really help to bring a film to life. When watching a film at the cinema,, the sound propagates from numerous places. The music, sound effects and dialogue do not just come from the screen but completely surround you. Surround sound and surround panning can really put you -inside’ the movie by creating a 3 dimensional soundscape.

If you’re looking for a new TV to start your home cinema with, why not try looking online for Panasonic LCD TVs and Samsung LCD TVs?
